The synesthesias have liquid contours, fluid without any temporal or geographical orientation that expose us to extrapolation, speculation, and the fabrication of the present. "Remnant", archetype of a small part of something originally larger, guides us through meta-narratives biases that both place us in a position of comfort and contemplation and project us into a cross-linked network of stimuli organically extracted from nature, with fragments transmuted through machine processing. The spatial sound is rigorously designed, outlining a metaphysical place and a simulated memory, where solitude resides, feeding us a long-forgotten introspection. "Remnant," the debut album by Filipe Baptista and the 21st edition of ZABRA, is an internal look at corporeality and the spirit that we often consider enigmas between them.



“ ‘Remnant’ is a piece which centers itself on the crystallization of various natural elements through the use of several technological forms, human and non-human, reflecting processes associated with memory and transmutation. The project started with several field-recordings and video footage made during the year of 2023 that were later recollected, computed and arranged, resulting in a sonic journey where memory, sensation, information and desire coalesce. The process of making the album was part very physical and part in a strict dialogue with the computer. Computation of memory, absorption of information, fabrication of actions and liberation of energy. These processes reflect both on the systemic nature of all living beings and the interchange of information between them and the habitat.
This ends up echoing the result of the album, where spirit and the flesh, organic and inorganic systems, the empirical and the ethereal, are all faces of the same one universe.” by Filipe Baptista

As sinestesias têm contornos líquidos, fluídos sem qualquer orientação temporal ou geográfica que nos vulnerabilizam à extrapolação, à especulação e fabulação do presente. “Remnant”, arquétipo de uma pequena parte de algo originalmente maior, guia-nos por vieses meta-narrativos que tanto nos situam num lugar de conforto e contemplação como nos projetam para uma rede entrecruzada de estímulos organicamente extraídos da natureza, com fragmentos transmutados através do processamento da máquina. O som espacial é rigorosamente arquitetado, desenha-nos um lugar metafísico e uma memória simulada, onde habita a solitude que nos alimenta uma introspecção já esquecida. “Remnant”, disco de estreia de Filipe Baptista e a 21ª edição da ZABRA, é um olhar interno à corporeidade e ao espírito que muitas vezes damos como incógnitas entre si.




“ ‘Remnant’ é uma peça que se centra na cristalização de vários elementos naturais através da utilização de diversas tecnologias, humanas e não humanas, refletindo processos associados à memória e à transmutação. O projeto iniciou-se com várias field-recordings e filmagens realizadas durante o ano de 2023, que foram posteriormente recolhidas, computadas e organizadas, dando resultado a uma viagem sonora onde se fundem memória, sensação, informação e desejo. O processo de produção do álbum foi em parte muito físico e em parte em diálogo estrito com o computador. Computação de memória, absorção de informação, fabricação de ações e libertação de energia. Estes processos refletem tanto a natureza sistémica de todos os seres vivos, como o intercâmbio de informações que ocorrem entre eles e o habitat.
